Two Years for One Joint

Help Mitchell Lawrence at www.drugpolicy.org. A national report earlier this year revealed that drug-free zone laws do not work. Watch our new video to see how the life of 17-year-old Mitchell Lawrence was turned upside down by these laws.

He got jailed for a bit that size? So if he had been smokin the joint instead of sellin it he wouldn’t have got a custodial because most of it would have burned?!

I dont get all these statistic bull****! But lets think rationally….what’s the worst damage that cannabis could have done….someone got high and laughed a little! Personally, I feel booze is a much bigger problem! Yet the goverment do NOTHING to stop that (here in britain n e way). Yet what do you know…weeds reclassified! Yeah all the pot heads are the real problem, they sit at home too lazy to cause trouble! But the 15 yr old crew drinkin on the streets smashin the place up – no worries!

How about if he was driving through a 30 mile and hour zone and got busted doing 50. The point is that the punishment doesn’t fit the crime.

  21. Droolster says:

I think what happened to him is ridiculous. As for the rest of the arguments, a real change requires a change in drug culture, not law. Have a look at the Dutch system. All the Dutch kids know the score and most will try weed at least once. Eventually common sense kicks in and anyone that kept on smoking will either move on or find a happy equilibrium with their life. Whatever the cause, not everyone can be a high flyer, who would dance in our strip clubs?

He’ll be out by now. Score for me? :P

Even smoking just once a week will kill the drive and ambition in most people because weed has a cumulative effect on the system and stays there longer than other substances.

As far as addiction: Just as there are millions of humans like me that can drink with no problem or concern of ever being an alcoholic, I know there are millions where just a tiny bit of alcohol is poison in their bodies. The same problem exists for some with pot but in a much more subtle way.

If you do anything in moderation (except for the hard drugs) you will be fine, as is the case with marijuana. Using it once a week or something like that won’t harm you at all. As long as you are responsible and don’t let it take over your life and make it become your goal, you’ll be fine. Also, many people who say it is addictive use it as an excuse to smoke more, because weed has pretty much no addictive property. I even heard in a study that THC kills tumors and actually helps fight cancer.
