Oregon Health Plan Denies Chemo Medicine- Assisted Suicide Offered Instead
But leftys want to impose this kind of treatment upon all of us. Just listen to the offended doctor. This video is from last year. hotair.com After weeks of bad news, things turned Barbara Wagners way this week. Last month her lung cancer, in remission for about two years, was back. After her oncologist prescribed a cancer drug that could slow the cancer growth and extend her life, Wagner was notified that the Oregon Health Plan wouldnt cover it. It would cover comfort and care, including, if she chose, doctor-assisted suicide.

this is a good example of what’s coming once Obama’s Bill gets passed. Gov run health care? they’ll kill as many babies and old ppl that they can. I’m gonna laugh my ass off when someone hears about their grandmother goin to die because the Bill they were so adamant about says so. people are fucking blind. so blind. besides, Obama’s health care bill in section II mandates the verichip for senior citizens under state care. come on in ppl, get your verichip from the Gov. Obama Christian? HA!!

Yes, absolutely. That is the only way to still keep it “Fair”. If they don’t do that, then the rich will get better treatment. Also, the medication itself will be on a “waiting list” basis anyway. (Unless you can get “special favors” somehow, imagine the ultimate power that gives the power hungry types in government)

maybe Barbra didn’t want it said on the air, maybe they edited it out. Ever hear of HIPPA?
sweetypie000 says:
you know, it appears obvious to me that if you have a lot of money assisted suicide is going to happen
for example, take rich famous people who have their own doctors like say patrick swayze. when it was clear it was certain curtains for patrick (rip *cry*) it would be easy to think that assistance to ease the pain and help them on their way would be obtainable.
even if it hasn’t happened with patrick you can bet that if a celeb / star is in dire pain that having money has helped one or two

We’ve heard over & over that there will not be any rationing of healthcare, yet this is a perfect example of just that.

We should consider critically analyzing what information is being presented and what is left out. For example, Tarceva is a drug approved for only certain types of cancer by the FDA based on many pharmaceutical studies. Is it effective for this woman? Well, this biased news story does not ever reveal her diagnosis!
Please stop to realize many news agencies are simply interested in ratings. And a “crying cancer patient” makes good ratings, not necessarily ACCURATE news.
lesliecarbone says:
So when the government bureaucrats refused treatment, the pharmaceutical company gave the lady the drug for free. Remind me again who the bad guys are.

There ya go!
There’s your socialized medicine, hard at work.
It would be so much better if the state of Oregon would adhere to the U.S. Constitution and not take money from people, to give to others, without due process of the law, in other words, not steal!
Let the people keep more of their money, and most will afford their own health insurance. And people will also have more money left over to help those that do not have insurance.

Exactly jbsouthpaw2009! I’m sick of this right wing vs left wing crap and have been for as long as I can remember. Why can’t Americans just evaluate a candidate on the grounds of whether or not he has the capability, desire, and moral qualifications to correctly and wisely handle the REAL problems here in America? Since Reagan, every politician has either worsened our problems or ignored them and focused on imaginary ones like “global warming”. Why not fix our extremely oversized gov’t instead?
jbsouthpaw2009 says:
Well said rocknrolldude3280. Americans need to wade thru the BS of right wing or left wing and ask themselves Is rationing this womans care like this the right thing to. Unless your a heartless political party robot the answer is clearly NO. Lets be good decent Americans first then worry about political party later.
rocknrolldude3280 says:
First, I don’t watch Fox News or listen to Rush Limbaugh, so don’t go there. I get my news from a variety of sources (unbiased, right wing, and left wing). I think about all of it then form my own opinions. The reason I don’t support Obama’s “health care” program is because I don’t have enough faith and trust in the government; the same government that gave us Bush. Would you feel comfortable putting your livelihood in the hands of HIM? We could have another one like him elected 2012, you know.
rocknrolldude3280 says:
This is what you get when you put all faith and trust in the government like liberals do. Then they accuse conservatives of blindly trusting the gov’t. We don’t trust the gov’t, hence the reason why we’re conservative! It hasn’t done anything trustworthy in the past 100+ years, save for 1981-1989. The hypocrisy, ignorance, lies, naivety, and total lack of critical thinking skills displayed by liberals and democrats is just astounding. Literally, it saddens me.
Bumgoblue says:
Maybe you should read the bill instead of spewing the BS, ridiculous misrepresentations (read:lies) propagated by right-wing advocacy groups.
Bumgoblue says:
I just read page 15… and it’s just defining terms. Your comment of section 1233 proves that you’re just reading the “interpretation” by “Patients First”, which is funded by health insurance companies. Perhaps you should read the actual text of the bill and attempt to understand it for yourself.

God Bless this poor woman. Thank you to the drug company that gave her the medicine.
jtwidmer says:
yes, Tarceva is covered, however in Canada, it may take anywhere between 6-8 months to actually receive the medicine after a diagnosis is made. Hooray dying before being able to get the medicine.
Mssaved1 says:
Regardless if the HMO is private, it is operating under the direction of the state of Oregon. This is not the HMO’s decision, it is the state’s because of the contract between the two. Investing their healthcare dollars (rationing) in one person when it would take healthcare dollars from another (considered more viable) , is exactly what Obamacare is proposing.
CavalierX says:
Nice try at focusing on the drug and not the idea that the woman was denied any treatment except assisted suicide, and had nowhere to turn, Your Canadian socialists can always head south of the border to get anything they need, and quickly. In fact, people come from all over the world for our horrible, broken health care. What are they, masochists?
Deanomag says:
That is great! I literally just called Lipa and they are a private HMO contracted by the state! Meaning, they are a private insurance company! This is what private insurance companies have been doing for years and years and years. . . isn’t it time to alter this?
Also, Tarceva is covered by Canada’s socialist medical system, can be covered by several Medicare supplements, and there are also reports on the web of other private insurers denying coverage of this drug.
