International Drug Policy: Animated Report 2009
Produced by an Oscar-winning studio for the Global Drug Policy Program of the Open Society Institute, International Drug Policy: Animated Report 2009 highlights some of the disastrous effects of drug policy in recent years and proposes solutions for a way forward. In the run-up to the March 2009 UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs meeting—where the future path of international drug policy will be determined—this film seeks to show that pursuing a “drug-free world” can lead to more harm than good.

well, in many so called “Socialist” European countries drug addiction is already (or getting) under (psychiatric) Health care. During (experimental) programs where they get free drugs, drug addicts start to get normal life including jobs and stuff. Most will use less (decrease of stress), or even stop using. When using, they feel no difference as they had to shoot insulin – not as junkie but like a patient and having a worthy life.

I agree with everthing presented, but dont leave us former drug users out that are now drug free , as many of us agree with this point of view as well. Us and them is win-loose thinking. Pro harm reduction former user.

Drug abuse should be a healthcare problem, not a legal problem.
Not until Antonio Maria Costa is sacked will UN drug policy even begin to get sane.
