Question by : i am a recovering opiate addict. does that stop me from joining law enforcment?
I was addicted to percocet for two years from 15-17. And now I am prescribed to suboxone. My question is can I be denied from law enforcement because of my medical records of going into rehab. At 17 and numerous hospitalizations. I am very interested into becoming swat or dea or even a police officer.

DEA, no. No Fed LE will take you with numerous hospitalizations over a narcotic.

Real police, who if your work for really well for a bunch of years may allow you to join a SWAT team, maybe.
No way to get to SWAT or detective unless you are first “even a police officer”.
Depends on specifics of hospitalizations. Up to the police surgeon and hiring board after they review you actual records and talk with your medicos.
Most larger departments rehab is fine as long as straight for at least 3 to 5 years.

You will not ever be able to be in law enforcement with your prior excessive drug use and rehab.
