    good vid and good for you for getting off. i a have been on it for 13 years with one period of 1 1/2 off. clean . Now I tapering off it for the second time. slowly i taper, I am down to 18. I plan to take at least 6 more months to come off..

    Hi Rick,
    I’ve been on methadone for over a year for chronic pain. I’m on no methadone at the moment, but it feels like all my muscles are rebelling against me. And it hurts SO bad. How long will this last? I’ve heard everything from 2 weeks to 6 months. My family has no insurance, and my doctor is really helping me out by not charging as much for the appointments. I’m going to be going off to college on a full scholarship, but the hang up is no pain medicine. Any advice?

    Totally relating! I stood before a judge after not only my daily local dose, but after my first take home bottle as well. About 250mgs. I was on it for 5 years consistently, it was my life! I stood before the judge and he sent me right to jail for 90 days! I had nothing but immodium, thats all they gave me the whole time! I am off today completely, and it was a battle. Physically it sucked really bad, but worse than that was the constant depression that went on for 7 months after.

    The detox takes longer then one would want. But tapering works well, the spastic mucle stuff is annoying. I got mad at the drug, it double crossed me. and the clinics are for profit. Got to fight for freedom, the stuff was using me not me using it.

    I think it depends on the addict and on the clinic too. I was abusing fentanyl among other things and I think I needed Methadone because of the strength of opiate I was on. The clinic I go to doesn’t put up with any crap at all. They’re pretty strict about everything and I’ve been told by others it’s problably the best one they’ve been to.I believe the proprietors are christians and you can tell. There is a sense of understanding and real caring there amongst the strictness.

    for poker123ish and others, I too think that higher dose methadone make you “go a bit mental” I got terrible night terrors and panic attacks when I was over 100 mg. My life was much better on a lower dose and now it better still on 0 mg.

    I’m on 105mg of methadone a day and this stuff is making me go mental.I’m going to try the tapering thing.I’ve never felt so scared to do anything before.

    Thanks Myophil. It makes sense to take a little darvon and some other meds after finishing MMT. I’m glad you have stayed clean after meth.

    nice video/good info. i was on methadone for 15 years. took me 18months to get off. it WASN’T THAT BAD. twelve step was helpfull as was a low does of darvocett when I was down to 5 millagrams.

    I understand your pain mate. There’s no easy way out of it unfortunately. What helped for me was LEXAPRO, 20mg Anti-Depressants, to help cope with the Depression and Anxiety. Also non-addictive sleeping tablets i took for 6 weeks. It worked for me. Best of luck mate.

    One thing is to have the right attitude,but how do you keep that attitude when you are starting to get sick?I want to get off methadone,but right now I do not see a way out of it.I want to get of it so bad,but it is so overwhelming.

    man you shouldnt of gone on the program if you were just a pill popper.
    iv been on it for 3 year now and its the best thing iv done.
    i was an IV user and i would spend 160$ aday just to stop the dope sickness and now i only pay $6 aday for my methadone.
    no more needles and no more drug dealers in my life so methadone saved my arse.

    oh, and if anyone is wondering why i feel my methadone doctor is evil, it’s because a family member (dad) called and complained that i’d been on it too long. he’s always putting me down, saying ‘when you getting off this shit?’ all the time and stuff, very negative..anyways, the doctor turned around and started blind tapering me WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE OR CONSENT. wtf is that? oh and he also claims that 90mg/day is the absolute ceiling and claims that one doesnt build tolerance to ‘done.

    i’ve been on methadone for 3 years with minimal drug use during that time, but wish i never got on it, it’s one of the worst decisions i’ve ever made. my doctor is a sick nazi prick who revels in patient suffering.

    i’m a firm believer that methadone should be reserved for hardcore IV users or last-resort type cases…not for people who eat percs or oxys..i used to get smug when people tried to warn me, but it really is like ‘blowing up the house to kill the mouse’.
