CNN features Philippines’ dancing inmates again: tribute to Michael Jackson
Amid the tropical heat of a Philippine prison, convicted murderers, rapists and drug dealers on Saturday paid tribute to Michael Jackson with a reprise of their youtube dance hit, “Thriller.” A rendition of Jackson’s 1980s smash hit by prisoners at the Cebu Detention and Rehabilitation Center in the central Philippines garnered more than 24 million views since 2007, when prison supervisor Byron Garcia first uploaded it! I think Byron has done a good job. He should be hired to rehabilitate corrupt government officials throughout the world in this facility and let them dance and entertain the world.

@colossaleyes What? No Atheist-centered values? You shame your fellow anal rapists!
ClaudeParish says:
@faintsmile79 Why do you have to go there? That really uplifts your argument and lets me know what is really on your mind and in your behind.
ClaudeParish says:
@mcr4leads Nor do I wish to.

P.P.S.
Oh yes, this essay-like post is for those who ask for an “informed” reaction as a response to their personal opinion. I saw Claude’s comment about that somewhere here. I’m just glad Warden Byron pursued this motivated by God-centered values and actually believed this kind of turn-around can happen.
God bless!

… so, beyond the amusement we get from their YT dance posts, lets pray for them and their families. Maybe after these dance routines for their rehab, they can find other productive ways within prison, but this is an awesome start.
P.S. Why MJ? Check out their ages;they grew up in the MJ era. And wasn’t there recent evidence that MJ was wrongly accused by the dad (who became estranged from his son and recently committed suicide) for money? Shows us, even the high and mighty can be a victim.
colossaleyes says:
…I thought, as did my other close-minded friends, what a pitiful way to catch attention on YT. But we were wrong, turns out these prisoners love what they do. It has given them a chance to break away from drugs, wars and corruption in jail–life. It has allowed them to be friends with one another and uplift one another beyond the dance exercises. Warden Byron prayed for a Christian way out to help these prisoners in their rehab. Now, the values of Christianity live within these prison walls.
colossaleyes says:
…as a result of their popularity and the recognition of many around the world of how they seem happy and changed and all the other praisesg and slap on the back they are getting, these guys feel that they can be a productive and contributing part of society. Their children are not as ashamed of them…some have become proud. Many of them moved in dangerous communities outside prison, which perhaps prompted many to commit crimes. When I first saw their Algorithm dance on YouTube I thought..
colossaleyes says:
…and many Filipinos know we are a people who love music and dance. Not all can sing. Not all can dance well, but as synchronized unit, the “dance” looked awesome, not only because they moved pretty well but also because there was a lot of discipline, cooperation and teamwork behind it – things not present during their gang war days. They didn’t know the warden was going to post this on the internet in an attempt to let them somehow interact with the rest of the world even from prison.
colossaleyes says:
I think the great motivation here is that the warden had to think of ways to stop the violent gang wars that erupted at least once a week in this high-security prison. Because people’s time were not as occupied as when they started these dance exercises, there was a lot of gambling, drug-dealing and violence inside the prison gates. Aside from getting rid of the allegedly corrupt prison guards, the Warden had to think of a way to make these prisoners lives purposeful even within the cells,

@mcr4leads Like most MEN, I don’t see the need to dance. Only someone with and imbalance, mental or physical, has an excuse to move like a baboon on crack with Parkinson’s disease.
mcr4leads says:
To all those people who criticize these amazing work of art in motion which we call “Dancing”, I personnally think that you guys are jealous because ot the fact that you don’t know how to dance!
mcr4leads says:
