Question by A F: 22 days sober at 54 years old. Does it get better and when?
After drinking beer for 30+ years, bingeing 2wice a week I am tired and want the pain to stop…Unfortunately the mental anguish is way more difficult than I ever expected…what is wrong with my life?

I can’t really tell you what is wrong with your life — I don’t know much about you and it’s not my place to judge the wrongness or rightness of your existence. It does seem like you are very unhappy and that drinking (beer) seems to be an issue. Maybe some emotional support would help. Have you looked into an AA program? Look for one in your area — it may help you to know that plenty of people feel just like you and they bear the unbearable, just like you can. (Don’t be intimidated by AA, it’s a good thing, I think). Good luck and congratulations: 22 days sober is something to be proud of.

i did it 37 years ago, after attempting suicide several times.
i am still dry to this day , & enjoying life like i never knew i could.life is a bowl of cherries. all you need is to ask for, & accept the support you will be offered.
Good luck.
